Early on, I thought using a black border around the art would add to the moodiness. Then I made clean, final sketches using just my computer.

For the final art, I created tight drawings with pencil on paper, and scanned them into my computer where I added the finishing touches. Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds,Peter Brown is Have you ever enjoyed eating something so much, you could literally eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, everyday? Well, Jasper Rabbit did. He loved carrots! Until the day came he discovered, carrots didn't love him, nor did they appreciate being eaten by him. This is the story of Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds.PictureHeres an adorable, short picture book for the kiddies of all ages. It's one of those books that is easy to enjoy and love because it's about a boy who loves to eat carrots. With illustrations that focus on haunting shades of black and white and orange, it brings out the humorous, yet horrendous happenings of when someone does something so much, it affects everyone around them. Jasper had issues! It's a fast read, without a total of about 40 pages- mostly drawings with a few words on each page, but it is so freaking cute- it's perfect for a fun Halloween read. And It's FREE!Check out Creepy Carrots! while I move on to the next read!*Review and many others available at www dot areneehunt dot comCreepy Carrots!Aaron ReynoldsIllustrated by Peter BrownSimon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, Aug. 201240-pagesChildren's Books, Children's eBooks, Animals, Rabbits

Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds,Peter Brown is This is a Caldecott Honor book. Ok, just proves you can’t trust the experts. I previewed before reading to the little ones. Dark, creepy illustrations. (I know, duh.) And not much of a story line. I was concerned my granddaughters would find it scary. The almost 5 yr old actually didn’t seem to, but disagreed with the final premise of the book. (“I think the bunny could hop over that fence and still eat them.”) And she did not want to read it again over the next few days. The 3 yr old looked at the pictures on a few pages, and said she didn’t like the book, and refused to have it read. I’ll be donating this.

Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds,Peter Brown is A fun and entertaining book to read. The authors of the Creepy series do a great job at keeping the book fun, yet give an underlying lesson to learn about overcoming one's fears. For this book the story mostly teaches kids that sometimes what we perceive to see is really something else. For our family this book has become one of our favorites.

Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds,Peter Brown is My almost-four-year-old is obsessed with this book! He loves anything "scary" or Halloween-related! We got it out of the library almost two months ago now - I've had to renew it twice, because he literally wants me to read it to him before bed every single night! I finally broke down this week and bought him his own copy on Amazon! I figured that it is one of those books that will always remind him of a certain part of his childhood, and he will want to pass it along to his own kids. My dad kept all my favorite childhood books and recently gave them to me to read to my own son. When I read them, the memories come flooding back and I am transported back to a magical time in my life. I know my son will feel the same when he read this story to his own kids when he is an adult. Some books are meant to be owned and not just borrowed from the library - this book is obviously one of those!
